For the Dutch week without meat, my friend and I had made vegetarian spring rolls ourselves. I had never made spring rolls before and I thought it was very difficult to make my own. But nothing could be further from the truth, the spring rolls were ready in no time and tasted really delicious. So if you think uh spring rolls .. way too much work. Then don't click away. Give it a try and I can assure you if you tried this you don't want anything else. You will be surprised how easy it is, how delicious it is and how quickly it is ready. We will not buy any Ready-made spring rolls anymore 😉 With this delicious recipe we make spring rolls more often.
The spring rolls are super tasty as an appetizer. We only missed a little bit of chicken, so that's why we added the chicken to the recipe. But if you omit the chicken, the vegetarian version is really delicious. We do not have a deep fryer at home, because we often eat a lot of fried food at work. That's why we made it in the air fryer. So it is also a healthy version! You can also deep-fry the spring rolls if you don't have an airfryer. I just don't know how long they have to be in the chip shop.

preparation time: 15 minutes
waiting time: 6 minutes in the oven

12 spring rolls

Appetizers | snacks

Vegetarian option without the chicken

Air fryer, oven or deep fryer

Airfryer 190°C (375°F) 6 minutes

Ingredients chicken springrolls
125 grams bean sprouts (small package)
+/- 275 grams of chicken
500 grams of mixed vegetables pack. Look at the ones with white cabbage, carrot, leek and pointed cabbage. Look at the content, you can also choose another vegetable package that you like yourself.
1 tsp sambal
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp Indian herb chicken
3 cloves of garlic
12 spring roll sheets from the freezer
1 tsp chicken seasoning
Salt to taste
Olive oil
For serving: chili sauce

How do you make the chicken spring rolls?
Remove 12 spring roll sheets from the freezer.
Cut +/- 275 gram of chicken into very small pieces. Smaller pieces than you are used to. The spring rolls are not so very large, when you cut the chicken into small pieces the chicken is well spread through the spring rolls.
Peel 3 cloves of garlic. Put some olive oil in a baking pan or wok pan and squeeze the garlic over the oil. Add the chicken pieces to the pan. Add 1 tsp sambal, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp regular chicken seasoning and some salt to the chicken. Mix the chicken well and fry the chicken until golden brown. I like some spice myself, if you don't like spice I recommend adding less or no sambal at all.
Preheat the air fryer to 190 degrees Celsius (375°F).
Add the bag with the vegetables to the chicken and stir well. Add 1 tsp Indian chicken seasoning to the chicken vegetable mixture. Keep stirring until the vegetables are al dente.
Very briefly (about 1 minute) add the bean sprouts to the chicken vegetable mixture. Now your filling is ready. Remove the pan from the heat.
Grab a spring roll sheet and put about 1 large scoop of filling in your spring roll sheet and roll it up. Below is a video of how I roll the spring roll sheets, I am not a pro and I probably do it the wrong way, but it works and they stick.
Bake 3 spring rolls alternately for 6 minutes in the air fryer. Serve the spring rolls with chili sauce.
How do you store the spring rolls?
Storage tip: You can store covered spring rolls for a day or two in the refrigerator. You can keep a homemade spring roll in the freezer for three months, fried, baked, or not yet baked. Wrap the spring rolls with foil to prevent them from freezing together and put them in a storage container.
